On February 4, 2025, a workshop training on the Feed Opening Section of the ‘Smart’ Extruder was held at the Dirmeta UAB headquarters in Kaunas, Lithuania, as part of the PROMATAI project.

The event was attended by 37 scientists and industry representatives—28 in person and 9 remotely—from Poland, Slovakia, Greece, and Lithuania. Participants had the opportunity to share knowledge, experience, and best practices across three different scientific and social topics: equipment and machines for material testing, equality and anti-discrimination issues, and the Feed Opening Section—results from WP1.

Equality and anti-discrimination issues are among the most pressing challenges of our time worldwide, making discussions on this topic an essential part of the PROMATAI project. During the training, this subject sparked lively discussion. Participants shared their views on the current state of the issue and expressed their thoughts on how to improve equality in their respective countries.

Representatives from the Technical University of Kosice (Slovakia) presented the current status of the research conducted within Work Package WP1, ‘Feed Opening Section of the Smart Extruder.’ They focused particularly on the adaptation of the developed virtual models of the Feed Opening Section (FOS) for 3D printing and the study of throughput using four different 3D models of the FOS. At this stage, the work on WP1 is nearing completion, specifically at the phase of manufacturing the main FOS for the smart extruder in metal.

As part of the training, all participants had the opportunity to tour the Dirmeta UAB production facilities.
