The Polymer Materials Processing Research Group is involved in modification and development of new polymer materials based on typical synthetic polymers, as well as of biodegradable polymers. We advise, suggest and develop technologies of processing of polymers to the form of ready products. We seek an individual and comprehensive approach to each problem and, together with the Customer, we agree upon the best research plan aimed at resolving such problems. We prepare innovativeness opinions, scientific expert reports, as well as opinions for the court as experts in our area of activity. We conduct specialist trainings, both theoretical and practical, in the area of polymer materials, their properties, modifications and processing as well as recycling. The training topics and plans are agreed upon with our Customer.
Main directions of activity:
- · we modify polymers, recyclates and polymer composites to improve their strength, biocidal, fungistatic and other properties;
- · we develop new composites, including biodegradable ones, on the basis of natural and synthetic polymers;
- · we manufacture polymer composites and prototype products on a laboratory scale (up to 20 kg) using the extrusion or thermoforming method;
- · we participate in determination of the scope of research in project proposals;
- · we conduct specialist trainings and scientific consulting.

The Machinery Technology and Construction Research Group is a team of specialists who are also enthusiasts, offering comprehensive solutions in the area of polymer material processing devices. We offer a broad range of devices, from small, laboratory ones to large, complete production lines successfully working in the industry. Custom-made devices and technological lines designed at our bureau include research apparatus, devices for development of new technologies, and non-standard devices tailored to individual requirements.
We have our own design bureau, conventional machinery, and an assembly hall. On site, we cooperate with specialists and technologists from the Experimental and Technological Laboratory of Plastics.

The “Polymer” Research Laboratory conducts laboratory testing in the area of polymer materials, including: optical testing, physio-mechanical and thermal testing, plastic film activation tests, as well as microbiological testing.
Within the accredited “Polymer” laboratory located at the Polymer Materials Processing Centre in Toruń, we determine the physio-mechanical, structural and thermal parameters of polymers and products made of plastics, such as plastic film or film packages; we hold a PCA accreditation no. AB 1376. The offer also includes , among other things, material identification, composition analysis of gas mixtures inside packages, gas and vapour permeability, as well as testing for biocidal effect, resistance to fungi and moulds. We determine the susceptibility of materials to biodegradation. We prepare experimental batches of composites and ready samples or products in the form of plastic film (blown or flat), tapes, filaments, which may be used for testing.
The laboratory’s equipment includes a HITACHI SU8010 scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped with SE detectors, a BSE detector and an EDX detector, enabling sample structure analysis at a micro and nano scale.

The Experimental and Technological Laboratory of Plastics offers services in the area of technological tests, industrial research, and development works, in the area of processing and recycling of polymer materials.
The Experimental and Technological Laboratory of Plastics has the following machines and devices for processing of polymer materials:
- A technological line for extrusion and coextrusion of profiles (solid and foamed) with W25 and W18 single-screw extruders. · The W18 extruder is equipped with a torque motor.
- · A technological line for extrusion of polymer composites with a 2TW40 concurrent twin-screw extruder, equipped with a dosage and granulation system.
- A technological line for flat film extrusion with a W40 single-screw extruder, equipped with a drier with a molecular sieve and a film thickness gauge.
- · A vacuum thermoforming machine for making of containers, with three forming depths.
- · Technological lines for plastic film waste agglomeration with W50 and W70 single-screw extruders, equipped with waterjet cutting heads.
- · A technological line for extrusion of filaments, intended for Fused Deposition Modeling technology 3D printing, equipped with a laser diameter gauge and an extruded product winder.
- · A UR250 knife mill with exchangeable sieves, equipped with three sieves with aperture sizes of 8 mm, 10 mm, and 12 mm.
- · An electrostatic roller separator for separation of mixed polymer material waste in the form of flakes or granulate.
- A W25i single-screw extruder with an induction heating system, for extrusion of high-performance materials characterized, among other things, by high thermal resistance.

The Paints and Plastics Research Group is involved in development of new technologies of coating products with the required properties for different substrates. We offer a broad range of tests of coating products for different applications and raw materials for production thereof. We perform tests of optical (colour, TSR), physio-mechanical and anticorrosion properties of coatings. We prepare expert reports and issue opinions on the causes for occurrence of painting defects.
On request, we manufacture specialist paints, including antistatic and flame-retardant ones.
Main directions of activity:
- · development of innovative, environmentally-friendly production technologies of coating products and polymer materials;
- · implementation of modern, non-toxic raw materials for coating products into use;
- · testing of properties of pigments, fillers, excipients, coatings, liquid coating products, raw materials for synthesis of adhesives and coating products;
- · testing of resistance of coatings to the effect of weather under accelerated and natural conditions;
- · development of renovation technologies of anti-corrosion coatings and protections;

Scope of the accreditation no. AC 004 Centre for Paints and Plastics, a Product Certification Body (PCB) meeting the requirements of the standard PN-EN ISO/IEC 17065:2013-03 Conformity assesment Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services, , and accredited by the Polish Centre for Accreditation (PCA) – Accreditation Certificate no. AC 004.
The tasks of the Product Certification Body are performed by the Product Certification and Normalization organizational unit.
The PCB has a strictly determinedQuality Policy and aDeclaration of Impartiality in place.
The Product Certification Body is authorized to certify:
- · product compliance, ICS codes: 23.040; 55.020; 83.140; 87.020; 87.040; 93.030;
- · for conformity marks, ICS codes: 83.140; 87.040 (“E” ecological mark reserved by Łukasiewicz – IMPiB);
- · constancy of performance of construction products (a national system).
Certification of product compliance and for conformity marks is conducted pursuant to the Type 5 product certification programme according to PN-EN ISO/IEC 17067:2014-01 Conformity assessment – Fundamentals of product certification and guidelines for product certification schemes, as well as pursuant to the following programmes of the Product Certification Body:
- · programme of product certification for a compliance certificate (CC),
- · programme of product certification for the “E” ecological mark (E-CERT).
Certification of construction products is conducted in accordance with the national system of assessment and verification of performance constancy of Type 1, as specified in the Regulation of 17 November 2016 by the Minister of Infrastructure and Construction on the manner of declaration of performance of construction products and the manner of marking thereof with a construction mark.
Pursuant to the scope of accreditation granted by the Polish Centre for Accreditation, the PCB is authorized to certify:
- plastic material products, including:
- · child-proof packages;
- · pipes, pipelines and parts thereof;
- · external sewage systems;
- · oxydegradable products of thermoplastic materials (for the “E” ecological mark according to the current Technical Criteria).

The Coating Products Research Laboratory, located at the Centre for Paints and Plastics in Gliwice, is equipped with specialist measurement and testing devices serving as a basis for reliable assurance of research quality. The offer is directed to manufacturers, producers and users of coating products. The laboratory holds a Certificate no. AB 163 of the Polish Centre for Accreditation for fulfillment of the requirements of the PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018-02 standard.
Among other things, we offer tests of: properties of liquid coating products, physio-mechanical properties of varnish product coatings, determination of content of volatile organic compounds (VOC) in coating products by liquid chromatography and by differential method (pursuant to the Regulation by the Minister of Development of 8 August 2016, Journal of Laws item 1353).

The Polymer Materials Research Laboratory is equipped with specialist measurement and testing devices serving as a basis for reliable assurance of research quality. The offer is directed to manufacturers of plastic materials, manufacturers of construction chemicals, as well as industries which use such products.
The laboratory has a Management System in place, compliant with the requirements of the PN-EN ISO /IEC 17025:2018- 02 standard, and is a laboratory accredited by the Polish Centre for Accreditation, certificate no. AB 163.
Among other things, we offer: safe packaging closure tests, tests of thermal properties of polymers using the differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) techniques, determination of the Vicat softening point (VSP), determination of the heat deflection temperature (HDT), testing of strength properties of products made of plastics as well as plastic pipes, fittings and fixtures, determination of the melt float rate and melt volume rate (MFR and MVR), in-use tests of sanitation devices and fittings.

The Elastomer Materials Research Group, independently or with selected business or scientific entities, implements research projects in the area of chemistry and technology of elastomers, primarily for the rubber industry, including projects related to recycling of polymer materials. The group also provides services in the area of design of elastomer materials, consulting, trainings, and prepares expert reports. The results of its works are published in scholarly journals and monographs, as well as patented. Many works have received awards, e.g. at foreign exhibitions and fairs.

The ”Labgum” research laboratory, located at the Centre for Elastomers and Rubber in Piastów, is equipped with specialist measurement and testing devices serving as a basis for reliable assurance of research quality. The research is conducted pursuant to research procedures developed on the basis of Polish standards (PN, PN-ISO, PN-EN, PN-EN ISO), foreign standards, (ISO, ASTM) and own procedures. The laboratory holds a Certificate no. AB 147 from the Polish Centre for Accreditation for compliance with the requirements of the PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018-02 standard.

The Elastomer Experimental and Technological Laboratory offers services in the area of:
- · conducting of technological tests;
- · industrial research and development work on a semi-technical scale;
- · experimental production in the area of production and recycling of rubber compounds, products and granulates.
We have the necessary machinery to conduct technological tests of the production and recycling process of rubber compounds, products and granulates:
- · closed mixers with a capacity of 1.2 l and 12 l, as well as rolling mills;
- · high-performance injection mould presses with an injection volume up to 1000 mm and a clamping force up to 320 t;
- · vulcanizing presses with a clamping force up to 300 t and heating plates dimensions of 400×400, 600×600, and 800×800 mm;
- · lines for molten-salt vulcanization of extruded products;
- · a steam vulcanizing boiler (length: 1.5 m, diameter: 60 cm).
